You hit like a girl.....

Gender norms have changed a lot over the last few decades.  I think the line between being masculine and feminine is very blurred.  I know a lot of guys that are way more feminine and aren't gay; it's just their style.  I think they wear tighter jeans than I do also.  I've also always been more of a tomboy I guess you could say.  Maybe it's because I was always taller than all the girls and boys for that matter.  I even wanted to play football in middle school but my dad was the coach and wouldn't let me.  I'm not restricting my daughter to "girl" toys.  She plays with whatever she wants and is actually choosing toys that are more gender neutral.  She likes things she can color with or mold into shapes, things like that.  Although I'll admit that I do buy her princess stuff and she does like to dress up.  She has a good balance though as far as her gender identity goes.  It's funny because she likes to copy me and when we leave to go somewhere she has to grab her purse.  I think our gender identity has a lot to do with what we're raised around. I had 2 younger brothers and they're the only ones I really ever played with so we did things that boys liked to do.  My mom isnt' really super girly so I think that also had something to do with me being more relaxed and not super uptight about my hair or anything like that.  Well that is all..........
